The XVI International Scientific Conference “Archibald Reiss Days” will be held on 5–6 November 2026 in Belgrade, Serbia, organised by the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies, SPARKUP CBRNE-related project partner, with the support of relevant national and international partners.

The Conference represents a well-established international platform for the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the fields of criminal investigation, forensic sciences, security studies, and contemporary crime analysis. It brings together researchers, practitioners, and policy-makers to address current and emerging challenges in crime prevention, detection, and prosecution.

The theme of the Conference is “Investigating and Proving Contemporary Forms of Crime: Scientific Approaches”. The Conference will address the following thematic areas:

  • Etiology, phenomenology and trends of contemporary crime;
  • Contemporary challenges in detecting and proving crime;
  • Natural and applied sciences in forensics, cybercrime and security;
  • CBRNE session.

The 2026 edition will include a dedicated CBRNE Session, focusing on chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive threats, with particular emphasis on:

  • emerging CBRNE risks and hybrid threats,
  • forensic investigation and evidence collection in CBRNE incidents,
  • inter-agency cooperation and crisis response,
  • the role of innovation, digital technologies, and AI in CBRNE security.

The Conference will be structured through plenary sessions, thematic panels, and a dedicated Early Career Researcher Session, supporting the participation of young scientists and fostering the next generation of experts.

As in previous editions, all accepted papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings, contributing to the dissemination of high-quality scientific and professional knowledge.

The event aims to strengthen international cooperation, interdisciplinary dialogue, and knowledge transfer between academia, law enforcement, and relevant stakeholders, including those engaged in EU-funded initiatives such as CBRNE-related projects.
