Members of the UCPS CBRNE Center of Excellence and UCPS SparkUp team successfully participated in the implementation and attendance of the Specialized International Training for the Detection and Dismantling of Illegal Laboratories for Drug and Precursor Production, as well as Emerging Global Trends in Drug Manufacturing and Trafficking, held at the Ministry of Interior Training Center “Mitrovo Polje” from April 20 to 25, 2026. The INTERPOL training was organized within the framework of the INTERPOL Global Academy Network in cooperation with the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies and the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia.

As instructors and lecturers, the training involved Saša Gajić, a United Nations-certified trainer and expert engaged through the SparkUp project, together with Prof. Dr. Jelena Lamovec and Prof. Dr. Ana Branković, both of whom are also members of the UCPS CBRNE Center of Excellence team.

The training participants included Assistant Professor Dr. Aleksandra Mitrović, Teaching Assistant Nikola Mitrović, and Teaching Associate Sara Petković, all members of the UCPS CBRNE Center of Excellence team. Through an intensive theoretical and practical program, participants gained advanced knowledge in monitoring illegal flows of precursors and equipment, identifying and locating illegal laboratories, applying protective equipment, safely interrupting production processes, and collecting and processing forensic evidence.

The international character of the training and the exchange of experiences with representatives of police and security services from 11 countries further emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation in the field of combating organized crime and enhancing CBRNE security capacities.

The participation of UCPS CBRNE Center of Excellence members in this specialized INTERPOL training represents another confirmation of the Center’s commitment to continuous professional development, international cooperation, and the advancement of capacities in the field of chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive security.
